Dear Neighbors:
We have just received the following report from a resident on Bridgewater Street:
<<Yesterday, June 16th, our house on Bridgewater Street was robbed sometime around 10 a.m. No one was home. The robbers entered the house from an open window in the back. They took only small electronic equiptment and $6 in cash – but nothing else. Neighbors saw two individuals: one who likely entered the house and one who sat at the corner of Marlbrough Way (The Court section on Bridgewater) as a possible look-out. One individual had a blue and white bicycle (very rusted) and left the house carying a black bag. The suspects did carry a knife through the house and blocked entry throught the front door with a chair. The incident was reported to the PGC police. >>
Another resident on Bridgewater Street reported the following yesterday:
<<We have noticed someone looking into vehicles as they walk down the street (Bridgewater) and a neighbor actually saw the same person lean into a parked car’s open window.>>
Please be on the alert and report any suspicious activity to the police right away at 301-333-4000. You may even call 911 if you sense that the suspects are about to commit a crime. Once you’ve made your report to the police, please e-mail us a report so we can spread the word and alert the neighborhood.

Dear Neighbors:
We have received the following report from a resident on the 9300 block of Davidson Street:
<< My 2000 Chevy Tahoe was broken into on Friday, June 12, 2009 at approximately 1 p.m. The perpetrator(s) accessed interior of vehicle by breaking the driver’s door window. According to my mom (who first noticed the crime scene), the center console was opened and CD cases inside of compartment were lying on the driver’s seat. She looked around to see if anything else was missing or tampered with, but couldn’t tell if anything was stolen. Police were notified and response was immediate. Police officer provided case # and took fingerprints for evidence. At the time the officer came, I was wasn’t home to make a report and he left his contact information. I spoke with him over the phone and he told me to see what was stolen, if any, and he would return the following day at 6 p.m. Fortunately, to my knowledge, nothing was stolen. Police officer did return on Saturday, June 13, 2009 @ 6 p.m. to follow up on the case, and I informed him that to my knowledge nothing looked like it was stolen. >>
The police officer also informed the victim’s mom that this was the second vehicle break-in report received from College Park Woods that day. (We have not received a report from the victim of the other break-in to elaborate on it.)
Please be on the alert and report to the police (301-333-4000) any information you have that might help bring a resolution to these crimes.
Dear Neighbors:
We have been informed that there has been an increase in the number of door-to-door solicitors in our neighborhood, and we would like to caution you to be careful and keep the following solicitation rules in mind:
All persons selling or soliciting contributions for charities must be licensed by the city. They MUST HAVE a city license IN ADDITION TO licenses or other approval issued by the county or state. There are three categories of people who may come door-to-door:
1) Those who are not selling anything or asking for donations (such as religious groups) — these do not need a license from the city.
2) Those soliciting contributions for charities – these MUST BE LICENSED, although there is no fee for the license, and it is valid only for 30 days.
3) Salesmen (alarm systems, siding, etc.) MUST HAVE A CITY LICENSE which has a fee and is valid for a year.
Those who are required to have a license are to have the license with them and produce it upon request (Pertinent parts of the city code on these rules are attached).
Please call the City’s Code Enforcement Office at 301-864-8877 to report any solicitors who should have a license but cannot produce it when asked to do so.
Public Services Director Bob Ryan also warns: “Please note that no one has to open their door to anyone. There have been thieves going door to door, testing to see if anyone is home or if the door is unlocked.”
Dear Neighbors:
We are happy to report that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the armed home invasion that occurred early Thursday morning, April 23rd, 2009. The following are what we understood from what Major Dusseau, our new PGPD District 1 Commander, told us:
· The two suspects had been arrested on an unrelated charge yesterday (April 23rd, 2009). When the MO (modus operandi) they used in the crime they were arrested for was compared with the one used in the home invasion on the 9000 block of St. Andrews Place, the police suspected that they were the same men, and the shell casing recovered from the home invasion was analyzed right away. It turned out that the shell was fired from the same gun found with the suspects.
· The suspects had no permanent address – they were staying at the Howard Johnson’s motel on Route 1 at the time.
· The suspects fall into the category of those who target a home where they see something they want. They entered the home on St. Andrews Place by pushing through the door, and they probably did not expect much resistance from the occupants there. Consequently, Major Dusseau recommends that people close their blinds or drapes at night, so as not to attract such brazen criminals.
We hope this brings a bit of relief to our CPW residents – we are grateful that the police acted swiftly to solve this crime, which elevated the type of robbery we’ve experienced thus far in our neighborhood.

Dear Neighbors:
We have just received the following report:
<< This morning at about 4:30 a.m. [April 23rd, 2009], three armed men broke into my house [on the 9000 block of] St. Andrews Place in an attempted robbery. I am blessed that my dog gave a spirited defense. The intruders fired one shot during the incident and left the house after 5-10 minutes — or less, it’s really hard to say, because it seemed like forever. If you have any information or observed anyone around the area of the flagpole early this morning around 4:30 a.m. to 5:15 a.m. please call Detective Mack at 240-988-4955. >>
Please be on the alert, and report any information you may have to the number given above.
We have just received the following report from a resident on Bridgewater Street:
<< Today, April 8th, our house on Bridgewater Street was robbed sometime between 10 a.m. and 12 noon. We were all gone. The robbers entered the house from the basement door in the back of the house by breaking the door frame. They took a number of electronic equipment — an LCD TV, a laptop, a camera – but nothing else. The incident was reported to the PGC police. >>
Please be on the alert, and if you have any information that might help solve this crime, report it to the police at 301-333-4000.
We have just received the following report from one of our residents:
<< On Arpril 6th at approximately 5:30 pm, I saw from my front window 3 hispanic men in a dark green F250 Ford pickup truck (North Carolina license plate XWS-7452–only a rear plate) get out and walk to 9403 Limestone place. They went to the front door then walked around the front and side of the house. This house has been vacant for several months, is empty, and for sale (a sign is in the front yard near the street). When I asked them what they were doing they repeatedly mumbled and finally said that a friend of theirs was inside. When I asked them how he got inside, they shrugged and asked me if the house was vacant. At this point, I asked them what did [he] look like and got their license plate number. I then suggested that several hispanic people lived in the house next door, at which point they went to the front door of that house, but no one in the house responded even though three vehicles were parked at this house. They then backed down the street in their truck and turned onto Marlbrough Way headed to St. Andrews. I contacted the PGC police non-emergency number and gave a report. A little later a PGC police officer came to my house as a response to the report. I gave him the information, but, without writing it down, he only got back into his car and left.>>
Please note that even though the officer did not write down the information given, the call and response are logged at the police station and we can always call to follow up.
Please be on the look-out for vacant homes in our neighborhood, and report any criminal activity you see in progress to the police by calling 911, or any suspicious activity you observe to the police non-emergency number at 301-333-4000.
